Declining the Offer

You courteously decline his offer of travel, and he recieves the news with perfect poise. He directs you to a local farm where the owners are genial and the spare bedroom is free, and after a perfunctory farewell, he puts the hood back on and withdraws into himself. You find yourself wondering what would have happened to this young man if he had looked normal... from the one outlet of humor he allowed himself, he may have even been happy. You continue on your way to the dragon nest, now more than ever determined to make a name for yourself among the dragon riders.
